Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a professional ice hockey team that was formed in 1967. The Pittsburgh Penguins are based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and play all their home games in the Mellon Arena. The team name ‘The Pittsburgh Penguins’ was taken from the nickname of their arena which was known as ‘the igloo’. A corresponding logo was designed that detailed a penguin in front of a triangle, which was symbolic of downtown Pittsburgh’s ‘Golden Triangle’. The Pittsburgh Penguins are moving stadiums from the Mellon Arena to the Corsol Energy Center in late 2010. There has been a long standing rivalry between the Philadelphia Flyers and The Pittsburgh Penguins which doesn’t seem to be letting up.
